Due to the location of the work, in the Plaza Duc de Medinaceli in the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, and to comply the Barcelona City Council requirements, the façade had to be stabilized from the interior prior to demolishing the rest of the building. Stabilization work was done using a temporary metal structure inside the building supported on micropiles. This allowed for basement work to begin.
